Bolt Blogging

Here's my Bolt Blog. I included a picture from my trip to Europe. I look forward to using this blog to share my insight into online education... or education in general.

  1. Jason - this is a neat picture of Europe! Where was it taken?

I appreciate your post about the difficulties of online learning. Some of the research I have seen about online learning is that the student - seemingly most importantly - needs to be motivated / self starter to be successful. That being said, like Tim pointed out - there are a huge number of "real life" things that can "get in the way" when it is time to concentrate and study. I guess all of us know how "real life" can interrupt our not online studies too.

I guess it is important for us to be reminded of what it is like to be a student again, and in this class, we are being reminded of what it is like to be a student in this time period of history.

  2. Thanks Jason for your honesty. I am not fully on board with online learning as yet. I have taken several courses online so I am familiar with completing the course work via different online learning systems. My primary concern is the relational part that is missed. The non-verbal clues or the immediate comment-response dynamic. I feel this is so critical in the nursing program. So much can be lost or misinterpreted in the written word. Asynchronous discussions work for some content but not for other and it seems to me (what little I know of them) online courses are really not set up for synchronous learning.
